MCF is a great place to volunteer. If you like seniors, this is the place for
you.
The Foundation’s volunteer program supports the life enrichment activities in the supported living lodges. Volunteering for MCF is a rewarding experience as it is through the help of volunteers that seniors living in the supported living lodge program are able to participate in activities.
MCF relies on volunteers to assist with the day-to-day activity program and with 8 lodges in various locations, there is something for you close to home.
Examples of work that volunteers do are:
assist with happy hours or special events,
lead senior friendly exercise classes,
call bingo,
accompany small groups of seniors on outings,
do simple manicures,
help with recyling,
help with the library.
lead bible study.
Most of the activity programs take place between 9:00am and 4:00pm Monday to Friday but some programs are early evening or Saturday.
To better accommodate the senior's needs, MCF asks for a commitment of 2 - 6 months or longer if the volunteer chooses. The single biggest asset a volunteer can bring with them to the Foundation is an understanding and appreciation of the elderly.
Each volunteer is required to complete an application form, have an orientation to the lodge and MCF and complete a security clearance check prior to being placed. For more information on volunteer opportunities in the Foundation, please contact ehann@mcfhousing.com
