MCF Housing for Seniors has an immediate opening for:
Cook, Full-Time, 40 hours per week
Working hours are from 6 am to 2.30 pm and 9:30 to 6 pm on a rotational basis with every other weekend off.
Location: Spruce Lodge(Bridgeland Community) Excellent accessability with public transport.
The position:
Reporting to the Facility Manager or Kitchen Supervisor, our Cooks work in a team environment to prepare and deliver quality, nutritious meals to our seniors who call our lodges home.
Your duties:
1. Prepare and deliver food to established MCF standards.
2. Review weekly and monthly menus.
3. Check all kitchen equipment daily to ensure proper working order.
4. Responsible for general organization and cleanliness of the kitchen and food storage areas.
5. Comply with all safe food handling procedures to meet all Board of Health regulations.
6. Receive and maintain inventory control of all food, non-food supplies and chemicals in cooperation with the Food Services Manager.
9. Participate in and promote the Health and Safety Program including reporting any unsafe working conditions to the Food Services Manager.
Your profile:
Preference given to those with at least one (1) year’s institutional cooking and some baking experience.
Red Seal / journeyman’s papers a definite asset, however experience will also be considered.
Strong organizational and time management skills combined with ability to work independently or as a team member, and must be able to meet deadlines.
Must be in good health with no history of back problems or carpel tunnel – a medical may be required.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Must possess a flexible, willing, and positive attitude.
Must have First Aid, WHMIS, Food Handling Course or be willing to obtain.
Salary Range: $14.86 is the minimum to a maximum of $17.47 per hour
